12 Best Wireless Bras of 2023, Tested by Bra Experts

We all know the feeling of wanting to rip off your underwire bra at the end of the day but we have found a solution: wireless bras. They still offer the support you need without the poking, pinching and constricting feelings that make you eager to whip off your bra the second you set foot in the house. When the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab pros put wireless bras and bralettes to the test, we sent 68 different styles to testers with a range of cup sizes and evaluated the styles in our Lab to ensure they're built to last. Whether you have a big bust or small bust, these are the best wireless bras that look great under clothes and manage to feel like loungewear.

Many testers with larger cup sizes said they were "doubtful" that wireless bras would be able to offer the amount of support they desired but were ultimately impressed by just how supportive high-quality wireless bras can be. In fact, after testing, many say they now prefer their new wireless bras over traditional underwire styles. While underwire bras are known for their support, some wireless bras can actually offer more. If you want to maximize support, opt for wireless bras with molded cups for coverage and lift.

Keep reading to hear why our pros and testers love these comfy wireless bras. Following our picks, check out our shopping guide to find the right bra for you.

Featuring molded cups, brushed fabric and a padded hook and eye closure, this Soma wire-free bra is designed for excellent support with a comfortable fit. It's lightly padded to create a natural shape and a bit of cleavage for a more comfortable T-shirt bra alternative. It's a great option for someone who wants more shape and lift.

All testers reported this bra ran true to size and found the material to be "super soft and breathable," especially liking how this bra offered "the same support as an underwire!" One tester who wears a 32DD bra size said, "I will definitely recommend this bra to people as a great everyday bra!"

One tester with a 36B bra size said, "I liked that it felt very smooth and supportive and fit nicely under a T-shirt with no bumps or bulges." Another found it so comfortable she said, "I forgot I was even wearing it." In our Lab testing, this bra washed beautifully, but we did note that it stretched a bit during stretch recovery testing.

Bra prices can seem astronomical, but you don't need to shell out a lot for a high-quality bra. This top-tested Playtex bra starts at just $20. Testers gave especially high marks for comfort, support and fit, finding this bra to run true to size. It features full coverage and lightly lined molded cups for shaping and lift. The adjustable straps are wider than other bras we tested to prevent digging in which was appreciated by our testers.

This is the perfect bra for someone who wants support and coverage up top. Multiple testers, from B to DDD cup sizes, said they felt fully secure when they were wearing this bra. A 38DDD tester said the bra had "no spillage and a good amount of support" and "the fabric felt super nice on the skin." While it received high scores for comfort and support, its appearance wasn't as popular: "I didn't love the design of it," noted one tester.

Impressed with its quality construction and breathable feel, analysts were blown away by this Bali bra's performance at a more affordable price point. It features thin cups for support without extra bulk. Testers all agreed that this bra is comfortable, loving the lightweight materials and airy design. One tester said, "The structure is supportive yet relaxed and the fabric is smooth yet breathable."

Great for everyday wear under T-shirts and more full-coverage tops, this bra has higher sides for a smooth look. "I genuinely forgot I was wearing a bra when I wore it. I usually go home from work and instantly want to take my bra off, but with this one I didn't feel that urge!" shared one satisfied tester. Note that this bra is available in S/M/L sizing, so make sure to check out the size chart closely before purchasing to find your best fit.

Prep for the ultimate lounge day with this super comfy, yet supportive bralette. Testers loved the super soft nylon/elastane fabric that one size-small tester said was "so smooth and soft, I could easily forget I was wearing it." She continued, "It still gave me the support I needed to feel confident. I usually take bras off as soon as I’m home, but I wore this to sleep. It was so comfortable."

Acing our Lab testing, this bra returned to its original shape after stretch recovery testing and didn't have any noticeable change in appearance after five wash cycles. It features a supportive bottom band for support without padding and smoothing sides to keep you covered. When asked if she'd recommend this bra to a friend, a size-large tester said, "Absolutely. I'd recommend this bra for someone in a similar bra size. It's a solid bra in all the areas that matter: fit, comfort, and support. I like that I can wear it all day and hardly notice it's there."

Plus, this bralette is available in a variety of colors, including three nude options to match different skin tones.

Every tester said they were satisfied with this bra and would continue wearing it, making it a tester favorite with its all-around stretch for a comfortable feel and a smooth look. This wireless bra had nearly perfect scores across the board for fit, comfort, support and staying in place. "I'm very pleased with this bra," said one tester. "It's the most comfortable bra I've ever worn. I like the high sides that smooth that area. I would definitely buy this bra."

Testers loved the bra's look, and it's available in 18 colors from neutrals to bright pinks. Multiple testers reported that they plan to purchase this bra in additional colors. Note that the back hook only has two hook-and-eyes, which some testers said felt less secure compared to other bras with three or four.

A bralette is the ultimate barely-there-bra option. This ultra-lightweight Tommy John bra has a silky smooth material that feels great on your skin. There are no clasps, and you pull this bra over your head like a sports bra. The cups are removable and some testers preferred wearing this bra with no padding. In our Lab testing, the sleek material did stretch out initially but it returned to nearly its original shape after an hour.

With a near-perfect comfort score, one size small tester said, "It felt supportive but still quite comfortable. I felt like my breasts were properly separated (no uni-boob!), but not like they were locked in place somewhere uncomfortably." Another size-medium tester reported, "I liked the soft materials of the bra and the support."

If you're nervous about wireless bras not having enough coverage, this is the bra for you. Warner's Cloud 9 wireless bra has lightly padded molded cups that are completely opaque. Not to mention, it has nearly 25,000 reviews on Amazon with an average 4.5-star rating.

Our testers especially loved how supportive and comfortable this bra is, likely thanks to the super soft polyester fabric. Testers appreciated the adjustable straps that were "not overly thick," but wished the bottom band was a bit thicker. Unlike most bras, you can adjust the length of the straps in the front, not the back, so it's much easier to do on your own. Testers also found it easy to put on and take off.

The Evelyn & Bobbie Defy Bra was a tester favorite for its seamless look. Designed to fit up to a cup size K and band size 52, this bra is the most size-inclusive style we tested. With wide straps and a higher back and sides, it prevents digging in and bulging and keeps everything in place for great lift and side support, but some testers noted it was visible under certain clothing items.

It's designed specifically for larger cup sizes, and testers gave it perfect scores for being supportive. One tester with a G cup found this bra to be "very supportive" and said, "I love the fabric and the seamless style." Because you pull this bra on overhead like a sports bra, some testers found it hard to take on and off. It's available in a variety of nude shades and fun limited-edition colors too.

As a full coverage smoothing wireless bralette, this pick from Soma is perfect for everyday wear with one tester even saying she'd wear it "all day and all night!" With higher sides and wider straps, it has a smoothing effect to prevent any bulges and an attractive v-cut neckline. The brand notes that the bottom band is designed to be snug, so they recommend going up a size if you want a less compressive feel.

Available in 15 colors with four different nude shades, you are sure to find a tone you love. It had especially high scores for comfort, but some testers did say the removable pads shifted a bit during wear. You can also remove the pads for a more natural shape.

Fully designed for optimal support, this Knix bra uses 3D fabric technology to offer a wireless support system. It features 3D-printed stabilizers that are seamlessly built right into the fabric on the front, sides, back and straps for support without an underwire. All testers rated this bra as highly supportive with one C-cup tester saying, "My boobs felt secure in this bra. It stayed in place and provided adequate lift." Some testers felt that the sides were a bit "bulkier" compared to other wireless bras.

The buttery soft fabric was a favorite among testers. One tester exclaimed, "The fabric is soft and almost silky. I like the way it feels on my skin and at the end of the day, I wasn't in a rush to take it off like I usually am." To achieve a proper fit, testers especially liked the back clasps and the brand's bra band extender for easy on and off.

Designed specifically for AA-C cup sizes, Pepper's newest wire-free bra features soft cups that still provide smooth coverage that's ideal for small busts. Testers loved how comfortable it was without any gaping, but some wished it provided more lift. It features removable molded cups for extra shaping and nipple coverage if you want it.

Made with polyamide and elastane, this bra was particularly popular for its soft fit. Testers also found that sometimes the size chart recommended a size too small, so they recommend going up a size if you're between sizes.

When recovering from surgery, the right bra can make all the difference. AnaOno allows you to shop the site by treatment, body type and bra style to make it easier than ever to find the best option for you or a loved one. Although we haven't yet tested this bra in our Lab, we have received promising feedback from fans of the brand.

This wireless bra is the brand's most popular style as it has easy access front closures, wide sides for compressive support and pockets to "easily accommodate expanders, prosthesis or lightweight breast forms as needed," according to the brand. Reviewers rave that this style is the best mastectomy option thanks to the soft modal/spandex material and adjustable design.

While the above bras are the top-performing styles out of the over 50 wireless bras we tested, the following bras are still high-quality picks. Here's why they didn't quite make the shortlist:

ThirdLove Form 360 Fit Wireless Bra: This bra has molded foam cups for great support up top with a great size range. However, the brand is currently sold out in the 2X and 3X sizes in all colors.

Hanky Panky Lace Bralette: If you want a minimal bra that still looks great, this lacy bralette is ideal, but it offers very minimal nipple coverage that isn't for everyone.

Tommy John Comfort Smoothing Lightly Lined Wireless Bra: While testers were impressed with this bra's supportive fit, the bottom band stretched out in Lab tests. We did appreciate the bonded seams for an invisible look under clothes.

Aerie Sunnie Wireless Lightly Lined Bra: Previously included in this round-up, testers and analysts alike are big fans of Aerie bras. This style is an excellent buy, but testers reported after continued wear the pullover bottom band stretched out a bit.

Yitty Smoothed Reality Plunge Bra: We love that this bra is available up to a size 6XL and has clever features like a hook to create a racerback. Testers loved the support, but some found it too restrictive.

The Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab puts all types of bras to the test, including strapless, backless and sports bras, for your dream lingerie drawer. In recent years, we have tested 68 different wireless bras in the Lab and with consumer testers.

In the Textiles Lab, we test each bra for stretch recovery and washability. As seen below, we stretch each bra to a set amount for an hour and then see if the material returns to its original length. We also wash each bra according to its care label five times to rate any shrinkage or changes in appearance.

By sending each style to multiple testers with a variety of cup sizes to get feedback on comfort, fit, support, ease of taking on and off and much more, we learn if people actually like wearing the bras. After collecting data from over 300 testers, we evaluated over 3,000 data points to find the best wireless bras to buy.

✔️ Sizing: Finding your bra size can be extremely frustrating as many brands have different fits and size charts. So where should you start? First, it's best to know your measurements. Check out our guide to measuring yourself at home. You'll need your bust (over the widest part of your chest) and band measurement (directly under your breasts). Compare your measurements to the brand's size chart before purchasing.

Unlike underwire bras, bralettes can be sold with traditional sizing with cup and band size or standard sizing such as S/M/L. Make sure to check what cup sizes wireless bras with standard sizing can support. Some are designed specifically for certain cup size ranges like A-C or D-DD.

✔️ Support: For ultimate support, underwire bras still reign supreme. However, many testers were impressed with just how supportive wireless bras can actually be. If you want as much support as possible from a wireless bra, opt for styles that have molded cups with a fitted band. If the bottom band of your bra is loose or gaping, you will not get proper support and it can even ride up or move around during the day.

✔️ Adjustability: GH testers especially loved wireless bras that had wide adjustable straps to provide ultimate support. Some wireless bras have traditional, adjustable hook and eye closures in the back while others are a pullover style.

✔️ Material: Wireless bras are made with all different types of materials, including natural fibers like cotton or synthetics like polyester and polyamide. Some testers prefer the natural feel of cotton, but it tends to hold onto moisture and can feel sweaty after a long day of wear. Synthetic blends with spandex or elastane had better stretch and wicked away moisture with a smooth feel. Memory foam is often used when the bra features molded cups.
